I did a lot of touchups in photoshop, because I didn't like the colors I had in markers. I really need to buy the other two boxes of Deleters... x_X But that's $400 right there.
At least this was good practice. People keep telling me to just simply COLOR and you'll get the hang of it. But... but they're such expensive markers I'm afraid to waste them! ;o;
You did that in marker? Or can you not really see the marker anymore under your photoshopping? Because that looks a lot more blendy than markers... unless you're just really good with them, Anyway, I really love your attention to the light-shine on the clothes and the hair, and the pose, it's all very cute
They're called 'Deleter' markers, and many comic artists use them to do their artwork for the cover images or the art books. They're alchohol based, so they dry really quick, but not as quick as a regular marker. It makes it easier to blend them just before they dry! You can also use Prismacolor brand, or Copic brand too. The only thing I really used photoshop for was to adjust the contrast and levels, and fix where I went slightly out of the lines.
So would you say that Deleter are better than Copic? Copic are the markers I have seen before and the artwork didn't look as well blended as yours. And no problem.
I've never used Copics, so I can't say. I bought the deleter set on ebay because it was $5 cheaper than a set of Copics, and I liked the color selection. XD I think they're all pretty much the same. You gotta work quickly when you color though. If you don't lay down the second color right after the first, it's not gonna blend. I color in segments as a result. Maybe I should make at tutorial? I'm really no expert at this, I'm just starting out experimenting.... XD *respects people like a lot*
There's also the fact that I use at least 3 colors for every gradient, so you can't just lay down two tones and expect them to blend well. Start with light, work up to dark. My skin tones were Y-532(cream), Y-533(beige), and Y-534(sun tan) for this picture.
